Our Transition to a NonProfit
We are expanding our services and programs
Over the years, we have expanded our services and programs to cater to diverse interests and audiences. Our offerings now include a youth program, a citizen science program, and various workshops and training sessions. Additionally, we are securing larger grants and tackling significant ocean conservation issues, such as marine debris. As Isla Mar grows, we plan to develop large-scale infrastructure and increase our permanent staff. To support this, we are transitioning to a non-profit structure, allowing us to access new grants and funding and continue accepting donations for initiatives like our Seed Fund and future research facility. We are excited about this new chapter and look forward to serving our island through these enhanced offerings.
What does this mean for Isla Mar Research Expeditions, LLC?
Our for-profit company will continue to operate. Existing grants and projects managed through the LLC will remain under its administration until completion, and some future projects may also be handled by the LLC as needed. Additionally, all field courses will still be conducted by the LLC. Our legacy logo will continue to represent Isla Mar Research Expeditions.
What can our community expect from this transition?
Our community can expect a seamless transition, with Isla Mar continuing to be the name most commonly used in conversation and displayed on our classic white uniform t-shirt. Our logo has been redesigned to simplify our brand while retaining elements that represent our organization. We remain the same dedicated organization, now with a clearer purpose for service and ambitious goals that reflect our commitment to our work.
