Participants run transects, identify species, take water quality measurements, and contribute observations to a monitoring dataset we have maintained for years. Let's do some science!
One connected system
We begin in our backyard at the marine reserve to learn about coral reefs, follow through to seagrass and mangroves, and finish in the mountains for a full Ridges to Reefs experience. Few places let you teach the whole gradient in a week. Puerto Rico does.

Stay tuned for 2027 dates with partner the Oceanic Society. This trip will give explorers the first hand encounter with Caribbean reef fish identification and fish biology and ecology.

Educator's Course
Most science teachers explain marine ecosystems they have never worked in. This program sends them home having run the transects themselves and gained first hand experience in the habitats. No marine science background or SCUBA certification needed; all in-water work is snorkel-based.
