We’re excited to introduce the newest members of Isla Mar's team. Each of them brings a unique set of skills, experiences, and passions that will help strengthen our outreach, operations, and communications efforts. Their dedication to education, conservation, and community engagement is already making an impact, and we’re proud to have them onboard.

Business Administrator

Maryori Pagán Santana
Loving books and exploring the island with her family on her free time, Maryori has lived on the West Coast of the island since 2018 and brings more than a decade of experience in Operations Management, collaborating with diverse industries to optimize processes and increase industry efficiency. In 2021, she began working with non-profit organizations as a consultant, which transformed her professional perspective and motivated her to fully integrate into the purpose-driven sector. Today, she joins Isla Mar as our non-profit's Business Administrator, armed with a mission that aligns her experience with community impact.
Outreach Coordinator

Lourdes Marcano Quiñones
Originally from Dorado and now living in Aguadilla, Lourdes brings her passion for conservation to Isla Mar as Outreach Coordinator. She came to the organization as an intern and we are proud to promote her to this new position! She works closely with the Citizen Science program and supports volunteer and outreach events. She also co-teaches in the Youth Education Program for students aged 7 to 9 yrs old.
Outside of work, Lourdes is pursuing a Master's in Environmental Education and Communication at Royal Roads University. Her personal connection to Puerto Rico’s coasts and her commitment to community education guide her work every day.
"I grew up visiting Puerto Rico’s beautiful beaches and witnessing the impact of climate change and human activity. I believe we can’t protect what we don’t know or don't love. Every day we’re working to reconnect our communities with the ocean and the coasts that unite us."
Communications & Marketing Coordinator

Abigail Hernández Torres
Abigail, often called Abby, was born and raised in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, where she still lives. She has a background in communications, multimedia production, and coordination. Her interest in conservation began during biology classes in college, and even while working in other industries, the idea of contributing to a mission-driven organization stayed with her.
At Isla Mar, she hopes to help more people understand how we can all take part in protecting our natural patrimony. Outside of work, she enjoys singing, drawing, songwriting, and playing the piano and guitar, along with other creative pursuits.
Whether leading educational programs, improving our organizational systems, or sharing our mission with the public, Lourdes, Maryori, and Abby are helping us move forward with purpose. We are grateful for their energy and commitment, and we look forward to what we will accomplish together. Be sure to follow along as they help expand Isla Mar’s reach and deepen our connection with communities across Puerto Rico.
