Announcing our 2nd citizen scientist field course | July 16-23, 2022

We are excited to announce our next citizen science field course program!

Our partner, the Oceanic Society, joined us in 2019 for an incredible trip where their group of 11 ocean-loving folks (ages 18-82!) learned how to monitor coral reef health, identify Caribbean reef fish, release sea turtle hatchlings, compare marine reserve fish communities and explore the west coast of Puerto Rico! We had such a great time that we're bringing the trip back again this year!

We are frequently asked if we offer our expeditions to the non-scientist/non-student ocean enthusiasts. Until our partnership with the Oceanic Society, we had not yet developed our program for citizens. But after our first course with their group, we decided we had to continue this trip!

Our mission is to make science accessible to all audiences and this trip is one way we can accomplish that mission. There is a maximum group size of 12 people which keeps the trip intimate and maximizes your time and exposure to us, the environment and the other local scientists we introduce you to!

We look forward to welcoming another set of science-loving ocean folks to the Isla Mar family! Will you be joining us this year?
